Q. How old do i have to be to start
Judo…
A. Normally you have to be 5
years old to start judo. Holbrook Judo Club will take individuals from the age
of 5.
Q. What special equipment do I need …
A.You will need a judo
suit - this can cost between £10-£150 … but often you can borrow a suit for the
first term.
Q. What will I be taught …
A. As a junior you will be taught throws
and hold-downs. As a senior judo player you will also learn how to apply
strangles and arm-locks.
Q. What kind of sport is judo …
A. Judo is a fun sport! It is a recognised
Olympic sport and as such all coaches awarded coaching awards by the BJA have
to revalidate annually.
Q. Will I get the chance to enter competitions
A.Yes, if you wish. Not all judo players enter
competitions but many do - the choice is yours. There are competitions and
gradings aimed at beginners as well as advanced judo players.
Q. How much fun will I have …
A. The more you do judo the more you will
learn and have fun. A good judo club will encourage its members to learn and
have fun at the same time.
